There are two key directions of the transformation for printing industry: Firstly, make full use of information technology, use intelligent production mode, change the unreasonable process before, and ultimately realize equipment automation, production transparency and process data. On the other hand, innovation and creativity need to work hard on product characteristics, through digital printing and other ways to provide creative printing products, to provide customers with personalized customization services.
Printing is an industry with many production processes. Each link involves the transportation and storage of materials, semi-finished products and finished products. Therefore, in the daily operation of printing and binding factories, logistics activities account for a large part, affecting the operation of printing production as well as capital turnover and operation cost control.

Recently, we have worked for a  traditional printing factory which own a warehouse  covers an area of 1000 square meters, 900 pallet storage spaces and 8 production lines . They used to achieve the turnover of goods by manual handling mode, the overall efficiency was low, also unable to respond to the delivery requirements. The project manager from Mircolomay, made a detailed investigation on the spot, and strived to formulate a complete AGV solution to the actual situation of the enterprise. 4 VVX500 latent AGVs and a set of AGV systems were imported and docked with warehouse management system and ERP system. Through the application of AGVS in the production links of the factory, the raw material supply of the production line printer and the database of semi-finished products and finished products after printing are automatically completed, which improves the quality and efficiency of the production and transportation links of the factory.

So, how does the AGV system work? According to the material usage, the equipment operator sends the task requirement information to the logistics management computer system through the calling system. After receiving the call information, the logistics management computer system transmits it to AGVS. AGVS dispatches the closest AGV to the consignment platform according to the priority of the transport task and the principle of optimal arrival time at the pick-up station, and transports the material to the designated unloading platform. When operator completes the current printing task, the call signal is sent to the logistics management computer system through the call terminal of the existing machine. AGVS dispatches the closest AGV trolley to the consignment station according to the priority of the transport task and the principle of optimum arrival time at the consignment station. The finished or semi-finished products are sent to the designated three-dimensional warehouse warehouse platform to perform the warehouse task. When the AGV battery capacity is below the set value, the AGVS will automatically dispatch the AGV to the charging station. When the charger detects that the battery is full, the charging opportunity automatically stops charging, and the system dispatches the AGV to perform new handling tasks.

The application of AGV robot in printing industry can greatly improve the efficiency of logistics activities. In the printing process, AGV system can make a series of printing raw materials, such as paper (or other prints), ink, printing plate, as well as finished products, semi-finished products, waste products and so on flow orderly and efficiently, which ensures the smooth convergence of various production processes, shortens the production cycle of products and improves production efficiency.
